How to Show Up in ChatGPT and AI Search: Miami Business Guide

Small business owner checking how their business appears in AI search results

More people now ask AI tools questions like “Who builds affordable websites in Miami?” or “Best Cuban bakery near Coral Gables?” Instead of ten blue links, they get a short answer that names a few businesses. If your business isn’t one of them, you miss that customer. The good news: the steps that help you show up in AI search are mostly the same steps that help you rank on Google.

How AI tools decide what to mention

Tools like ChatGPT search, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity pull from websites, business listings, reviews, and trusted directories. They tend to mention businesses that are clearly described, consistent across the web, and talked about by other sources. Nobody can guarantee a mention, but you can make your business much easier to find and understand.

Step 1: Say exactly what you do, in plain words

Your homepage should answer three questions in the first few lines: what you do, who you serve, and where. “We repair AC units for homes in Kendall and Hialeah” is far easier for an AI tool to use than “Comfort solutions for modern living.”

Step 2: Add structured data

Structured data, also called schema, is code that labels your business name, address, hours, services, and prices. It helps Google and AI tools read your site without guessing. Every site we build includes it.

Step 3: Keep your details the same everywhere

Your business name, address, phone, and hours should match on your website, Google Business Profile, Yelp, Facebook, Apple Maps, and Bing Places. Mixed details make AI tools less confident about who you are.

Tip: Claim your Bing Places listing. Several AI assistants lean on Bing data, and most small businesses skip it.

Step 4: Answer real customer questions

AI answers are built from content that answers questions directly. Add an FAQ section to your key pages with short, honest answers: what you charge, how long it takes, what areas you serve, and what makes you different. Write the question the way a customer would ask it.

Step 5: Earn reviews and mentions

Reviews on Google and mentions in local news, chamber of commerce sites, and industry directories all signal that real people trust you. Ask happy customers for a review, and list your business in the local directories that matter for your trade.

Step 6: Check how you show up

Once a month, ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google a few questions your customers would ask, like “best [your service] in [your area].” Note who gets mentioned and what sources they cite. That shows you where to focus next.
